Glossary of Fitness Terms

B2 agonist

Short for Beta two adrenergic agonist. A B2 agonist that bodybuilders are familiar with is Clenbuterol...a powerful drug that builds muscle and strips the body of fat in record time. B2 agonists are used widely in asthma medications for bronchodilation. Clenbuterol drugs such as Venta Pulmin and Spiropent are banned by sporting bodies such as the IOC (click here to view the list of banned substances) and are illegal in most countries. They have been shown to have dangerous side-effects to health. Click here to read a University of Melbourne study which looked at the detrimental effects of Clenbuterol on the heart.

Dopamine

Brain neuro transmitter. Natural B2 agonist. Intimately involved in our brain chemistry and consciousness. Stimulates the pituitary gland in the brain to secrete HGH. Manufactured in the body from the amino acid l-dopa.

HGH (Human Growth Hormone)

The master hormone of the body, produced by the pituitary gland in the brain. Promotes rapid muscle growth and fat loss. Also used for rejuvenation and anti-aging by restoring youth.

IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor)

Also known as somatomedin. A naturally produced hormone of the body. The breakdown of HGH stimulates the liver to produce IGF-1... a powerful growth factor for building muscle quickly.

L-Dopa

Amino acid which among other things converts to dopamine and is thus capable of stimulating HGH release from the anterior pituitary gland which hangs off a stalk in the brain (just behind the eyes).

Synergistic

The term given to getting multiplied effects or results from the combination of different elements. The end result is greater than what the individual components achieve on their own. For example, an incredible synergy is achieved with the combination of two amino acids, arginine and lysine in the GH stack (701% increase in growth hormone). The seven step plan is a great example of combined synergy, where mental, nutritional, and exercise elements are combined for awesome results.

Stack

Combining two or more substances (nutrients) in a supplement to give multiplied (synergistic) effects. Originally referring to the combination of drugs used by bodybuilders, but now more broadly used to encompass nutritional supplements as well.
